What the Teamstack Browser Extension is

Get started with password vaulted apps

Teamstack supports Single Sign-On for apps that leverage federation through SAML. While many apps support this standard, there are thousands of apps that don't support federation and require credentials for sign-on.

As a Teamstack administrator, the Form-based auth service (FBA Apps) enables you to manage access to some apps that don't support federation and that are available to users on the user Dashboard. The FBA apps saves login credential sets for applications and assigns those credential sets to users through group association. When a user has access to one of these applications through a group, they can sign in to the application through the user dashboard, or they can sign in directly from the specific application. This functionality is possible via the Browser extension that needs to be installed.

The Teamstack Browser Extension allows you to automatically sign in to applications that normally would require a user to manually enter their credentials (Form-Based Applications) with a single click.

You can search and choose from the available web-based applications in the app library, or you can request a custom app to be added

You can then manage usernames and passwords safely while providing users in your organization with quick one-click access to all the apps they already use. Using the Teamstack Browser Extension allows you to enable single sign-on for a wider range of applications including those that don't support SAML, but it also supports SAML applications. It also enables you to add multi-factor authentication to applications where it isn't natively supported.

How the Teamstack Browser Extension works

When an application is started from the Extension, your browser opens it in a new tab. The extension securely retrieves the authentication credentials from Teamstack and automatically inserts it and logs in for the user. Once the authentication is complete, the extension doesn't store any credential information.

If you navigate to the login page of an application that is registered to you on Teamstack, you can click on the the Teamstack icon in the place you enter your credentials to automatically fill it in.

You are also able to quickly navigate directly to your Teamstack dashboard from the extension.
